Chard and District Swimming Club held their first annual club gala of the year with swimmers continuing to shine and carry the success of last year into this one, writes Steph Hallam.

Chard and District Swimming Club held their first annual club gala of the year with swimmers continuing to shine and carry the success of last year into this one, writes Steph Hallam.

Top performers of the evening were Abigail Dare, 12, who improved on her previous club record. She achieved her 12yrs and under record in the 100m butterfly in a time of 1:17.83.

Congratulations also go to Leo Kindred for obtaining his 25m freestyle bronze Speed Badge in a time of 19.95.

Jamie Pullinger, 11, was one of four swimmers to win all their events for their respective age groups.

The following achieved top three positions: 8yrs and under: Michael Moulding (2nd) 25m backstroke and 25m breaststroke. Daisy Brett (1st) 25m butterfly, (3rd) 25m freestyle. Xanthe Dyer (2nd) 25m butterfly and 25m breestyle. Helen Underwood (1st) 25m breestyle.

9 yrs: Leo Kindred (1st) 200m breaststroke, Henry Taswell (1st) 50m butterfly, (2nd) 200m breaststroke, Jamie Hannaford (2nd) 50m butterfly.

10yrs: Charlie Kendall (2nd) 200m breaststroke, 100 freestyle and 200m individual medley, Ben Greenslade (2nd) 50m butterfly, (3rd) 100m freestyle. Ryan Adair (3rd) 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley, Bea Brett (1st) 200m backstroke and 100m butterfly, Rosie Bolton (3rd) 50m breaststroke.

11 yrs: Iain Ross (1st) 200m breaststroke, (2nd) 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 200m individual medley, Lewis Pearson (1st) 100m freestyle, 200 individual medley and 50m butterfly, (2nd) 200m breaststroke. Ella Harvey (3rd) 200m backstroke and 100m butterfly, Susan Ross (3rd) 50m breaststroke.

12yrs: Jamie Pullinger (1st) 200m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley, Oliver Bilbie (1st) 100m freestyle, (2nd) 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley, Rory Dyer (3rd) 50m butterfly, Elsie Emery (1st ) 100m butterfly and 50m breaststroke.

13 yrs/14 yrs: Jake Hallam (1st) 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley, (2nd) 200m breaststroke and 100m freestyle, Ben Fowler (3rd) 200m breaststroke, 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly, Abigail Dare (1st) 100m butterfly, (2nd) 200m backstroke, (3rd) 50m breaststroke.

Open: Luke van den Barselaar (1st) 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley, (2nd) 100m freestyle, (2nd) 50m butterfly, Jack Fish (1st) 50m butterfly, Adam Speake (2nd) 200m individual medley, James Rutherford (3rd) 200m breaststroke. Beckie Rutherford (1st) 200m backstroke, (3rd) 100m butterfly, Hannah Pullinger (1st) 50m breaststroke, (2nd) 200m backstroke, Laura Coombs (1st) 100m butterfly.

Boys and Girls 25m Novice: (1st) Leo Kindred, (2nd) Jamie Hannaford. (3rd) Xanthe Dyer.

Boys 50m Novice: (1st) Jake Harvey, (2nd) Lewis Pearson, (3rd) Iain Ross.
