Swimmers find that all that glitters is gold - with silver and bronze

Chard swimmers have had another successful weekend of competition, with a total of 30 swimmers aged 9 to 16 swimming at Tiverton Sparkler Open Meet, writes Hannah Pullinger.

Several South West Counties Regional Times were achieved during the day. Hannah Pullinger (15), achieved three times in the 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke. Abi Dare (14) achieved two times in the 200m Individual Medley, and 100m backstroke. Ben Fowler (15) achieved two times in 100m & 200m backstoke, and Elisha Hawkins (12) achieved two in the 100m & 200m breaststroke.

Hannah, Abi, Ben and Charlie Kendall, 11, also achieved Meet Age Group Records in some of their events; Hannah in the 200m freestyle, Abi in the 100m backstroke, Ben also in the 100m backstroke and Charlie in the 50m breaststroke.

There was some outstanding swimming with 53 medal wins and many personal best times.

Hannah Pullinger (15) achieved gold medals in all her events winning the 200 & 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke, and 50m freestyle, as did Abi Dare (14) who won gold in 100m backstoke, 200m individual medley, 50 & 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly. Other golds were won by Dan Andrews (16) 50, 100 & 200 freestyle, Ben Fowler (15) 100 & 200m backstroke, Jess Mathieson (14) 100 & 200m breaststroke, Lauren Harrison (14) 200m freestyle, Melissa Hanson (14) 200m backstroke, Billie-Jo Dance (14) 200m butterfly, Oliver Bilbie (13) 50m freestyle, Jamie Pullinger (13) 200m backstroke, Paul Harrison (12) 100 & 200m backstroke, Elisha Hawkins (12) 200m breaststroke, Charlie Kendall (12) 50m breaststroke, Ryan Adair (11) 200m butterfly, Michael Moulding (9) 50m breaststroke.

Silver medals were won by : Jamie Spiller (16) 100 breaststroke, 50 & 100 freestyle, Oliver Bilbie 100 backstroke, Billie-Jo Dance 100 freestyle, Melissa Hanson 100 backstroke, Lauren Harrison 50 & 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m Individual Medley, Elisha Hawkins 200m butterfly, 200m Individual Medley & 100m breaststroke, Leo Kindred (10) 200m breaststroke,

Bronze medals went to: Jamie Pullinger 50m freestyle, Jamie Spiller 200m freestyle, Billie-Jo Dance 100m freestyle & 100m butterfly, Ben Fowler 50 & 100m freestyle, Elisha Hawkins 100 butterfly, Helen Underwood (9) 50m breaststroke, Lewis Pearson (12) 200m freestyle & 200m Individual Medley,

Other swimmers taking part at Exeter included Abi and Leo Bonning, Daisy Brett, Jess Patch, Daniella and Tamsin Edge, Lauren Real, India Woodhams, Jay Kindred, Liam Mathieson and Henry Taswell many of whom achieved good personal best times.
