TAGB Tae Kwon Do students of all ages had a rare opportunity recently to attend a seminar lead by Grandmaster CK Choi 9th Dan. Students from various TAGB clubs, including Broadclyst and Honiton, travelled to Weston super Mare to experience a training session by one of the founding members of Tae Kwon Do.

The seminar took the form of a training session covering self-defence blocking techniques essential for use in free-sparring, the sport form of TKD, which ensured that students of all abilities could fully participate. There were glimpses of the Grandmaster's ability, particularly during stretching exercises, and he expertly held the attention of 270+ students across two separate sessions. The second session, for black belts only, incorporated more challenging kicking techniques including the impressive 360 degree jumping turning kick.

Now 70, Grandmaster Choi is based in Canada and accepted the invitation to present the seminar at venues around the UK largely because TAGB TKD retains the original principles of TKD as crafted by the founders in Korea in the late 1950s. TKD is itself based on older forms of martial arts.

TAGB TKD students at Broadclyst and Honiton are taught by instructors Chloe Lock 3rd Dan, Jake Langdon 2nd Dan and Martin Morgan 2nd Dan
