Taunton Races offering ‘Terrific Thursday’ of action

Taunton host their ever popular Ladies Day Meeting on Thursday (April 12) when the first of the seven races on the card which has a very generous prize fund of over £59k goes to post at 2.10pm, writes Richard Walsh.
During the afternoon there will be a competition for the Best Dressed Lady with the main prize on offer being a weekend for two in Rome, which is sponsored by Dave Criddle Travel.
The racecourse management is once again most grateful to all sponsors for their continued support.
The action on the course kicks off with The toteplacepot Handicap Hurdle over two miles and half a furlong which is followed 30 minutes later by The toteexacta Novices’ Hurdle over two miles three.
The totequadpot Handicap Hurdle is next to post at 3.10pm, and run over three miles is the longest race of the day.
The Dave Criddle Travel Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles two furlongs with a prize fund of £11,556 is next up.
The most valuable race on the card, The totetrifecta Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) is off at 4.10pm and run over two miles three furlongs has a prize money of £13,509 on offer.
The Pontispool Equine Sports Centre ‘Grassroots’ Maiden Hunter’s Steeple Chase over two miles seven furlongs for the Mitford Slade Challenge Trophy is likely to attract a lot of interest from the Point to Point fraternity and is due off at 4.40pm.
The final event on the card is the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Mares’ Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race half an hour later and runs over two miles and half a furlong.
Punters are reminded that they can take advantage of generous discounts available if they buy their tickets on-line in advance prior to 10am on the day before racing.
