HHHC 0, Teignmouth 8

The first league fixture of the new season saw Honiton travelling to South Devon to play a match with a side which promised tough opposition and gave it.

During the first half, the home side virtually ran rings round Honiton - play mainly being in Honiton's half with only a few excursions into the Teignmouth half. With the 10 Honiton field players beaten, it was left to Honiton's game stand-in goal keeper, Karen Arnett, to try to deflect the Teign attack - she found herself struggling and so six goals were scored.

In the second half the whole team pulled up its socks, and, refusing to be downhearted, prevented more goals being added for quite some time.

Honiton had a few more attempts from within the circle and it was unfortunate that Dawn Mayo's attempted push of the ball over the goal line did not quite make it, denying Honiton a consolation goal.

Karen Arnett, warming to her new role, began to 'find her kickers' and made a number of excellent saves, but was beaten twice.

Players of the Match: Karen Arnett and Gemma Millman.

l Practices continue with ECVH at Cullompton Sports Centre on Tuesday evenings.

Training takes place between 8-9:30pm, with transport being arranged from Dowell Street Car Park at 7:30pm.

If you would like to go along, please turn up at the meeting point. A warm welcome is extended to all players, regardless of current skills.
