Axminster Town came with 12 minutes of scoring a superb victory over a very good University side, but shipped four late goals to slip to a 4-1 defeat.

In a game dominated by the wind Town started brightly and took a first half lead. They defended superbly and, ion glovesman Scott Wells-Burr they had a goalkeeper at the top of his game!

Wells-Burr was superb, making a number of great stops. With 12 minutes remaining Ben Clay was sent off and the subsequent penalty was missed. However, two minutes later the player who missed the spot kick levelled things up and, with their tails up, the Students set about killing the game off.

University boss Neil Saunders, who also manages the Devon Under-18 side said of Town’s effort: “They played well and a three-goal margin is an injustice to them in terms of their contribution to the game. I am relieved we won and do feel that, but for their outstanding goalkeeper, we’d have had the game won a lot earlier!”
