Phil Tansley hit an unbeaten 135 as Honiton 2nds sealed a six wicket win at home to Clyst Hydon 2nds.

It was certainly a case of ‘runs in the sun’ at Mountbatten Park with no fewer than 603 scored in just 80 overs for the loss of only 11 wickets.

The visitors batted first and closed on 300-7 with Alan Ostler taking 3-52 and Jason Harris bagged figures of 2-52. The other two wickets fell to Phil Tansley and Richard Hill.

In the run chase, Honiton lost Pete Beighton (19), Andrew Lapping (25), Richard Potter (9) and Nathan Groves (9), but, when Jon Hext joined Phil Tansley with the score on 135-4 the winning line will have seemed some way off. However, that’s not how Tansley and Hext saw it and the pair made sure there were no further loss of wickets as they added 169 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket.

Tansley was not out 135 and Hext was unbeaten on 62 as the win was sealed.
