NETBALL: Keeley's Angels are really flying in division one and are now five games unbeaten while Acorns continue to grow and the Weather Girls have a promising outlook in division two .

Division One: Uplowman 29, Bo-Peeps 23; Wasps 26, 'Visions 32; Keeley's Angels 45, Tip Top Trees Oaks 10.

Keeley's Angels kept the pressure on in division one with their fifth win in five starts when they comprehensively defeated Tip Top Trees Oaks, who have lost heavily to the top two teams in consecutive weeks.

With Cara Monaghan in fine form for the Angels, they proved too strong for Oaks despite some fine work from Louise Garman yet again. At quarter time, Keeley's were 10-3 in front and this had increased to 26-5 by half time. Angels continued to dominate the game and, although Tip Top Trees worked hard, they could not get back into the game and Keeley's Angels won by 45-10 to move to within a point of the top spot with a game in hand.

After three wins on the trot, Wasps were hoping for win number four when they met 'Visions who, after a shaky start, are beginning to perform better. They, too, had won their last three games, so something had to give.

Wasps started well and led 11-7 at quarter time, although by half way, 'Visions had reduced the deficit to 17-18. At half time, Wasps unfortunately lost their GD due to injury and, without a replacement, they had to complete the game with six players.

Claire Gresham did her best at centre to keep the play moving and 'Visions had to work hard to move 25-24 in front at the start of the final period. With Ali Moxey doing well in defence for 'Visions Wasps found scoring more difficult and ''Visions made their numerical advantage tell to finish victors by 32-26.

Uplowman and Bo-Peeps met for the first time this season and it was a close encounter with Andrea Britten playing well for Uplowman, whilst, once again, Faye Webb caught the eye for Bo-Peeps. The game could have gone either way but at the end it was a narrow 29-23 win for Uplowman that kept them three points clear of the relegation places.

Division Two: Lyme Bay 7, Met Office Weather Girls 50; Bampton 33, NAS Vehicle Repairs 25; Sidmouth Toucans 23, Tip Top Trees Acorns 36.

As the season progresses, it is beginning to look more like a four team race for the two promotion spots. Tip Top Trees Acorns bounced back into the top spot [on a slender 2 goal better goal difference] thanks to a fine win over Sidmouth Toucans - who have struggled to find their best form this season.

The game started evenly with Acorns just having the best of the first quarter to lead 8-6. The second period went goal for goal and, at half way, Tip Top trees still held a two goal lead over Sidmouth at 14-12. In the third period Acorns opened up more of a lead to start the final period 25-19 to the good, but Sidmouth were still within touching distance. Acorns had other ideas and in the final period they outscored the Toucans again to end the game winners by 36-23 and move back into the top spot. Jo White was the pick of the Toucans whilst Dani Wakeley's shooting won the day again for Acorns.

Weather Girls from the Met Office are proving to be all-weather performers as they continued their unbeaten run with another convincing display. Although Emma Franklin played well for Lyme Bay, they were no match for the power of the Weather Girls, for whom Jenny Fotheringham was outstanding. The Met Office side led from the off and didn't allow Lyme Bay to develop any sort of rhythm with the result that their 50-7 win was their best of the season and saw them retain their third place spot.

Bampton continued their push for a promotion spot when they defeated NAS in a thrilling encounter. It was a game of the Sarahs, with Sarah Green in excellent form for NAS and Sarah Robinson splendid for Bampton.

The game started evenly with honours shared at 7-7 at quarter time. At half way, NAS had edged in front at 13-12 but it was still too close to call.

Once again the third period was pivotal as Bampton took the lead for the first time and started the final quarter 24-16 up. Although NAS had slightly the better of the final period they could not get back on terms and Bampton ended the night victors by 33-25 to stay in fourth place with only one loss in their five games.
