Thrilling win closes season

Brian Parsons and Ann Clayton took the Singles titles in this year's Club Knock-out Competitions. The full results are as follows:

Men’s singles: Brian Parsons - 21 shots v John Gough - 7 shots.

Ladies’ singles: Ann Clayton - 22 shots v Alison Glyde -18 shots.

Men’s drawn pairs: Roger Legg and Eric Skeemer - 25 shots v Bob Turpin and Philip Stephens - 18 shots.

Ladies’ drawn pairs: Alison Glyde and Nola Stephens - 22 shots v Pam Clark and Jan Parsons - 14 shots.

Ladies’ Invitation : Philippa White and Derek Eldridge - 23 shots v. Jan Parsons and Philip Stephens - 21 shots.

Joy Lintott Cup: Jean Kesterton and Jan Parsons (W/O.).

In the club matches, the Ladies did well to beat the Devon Counties Ladies’ Patrons at home (61-36) with a top rink of Lilian Lovatt, Pam Hunter, Marion Harris, and Jan Parsons (23-11).The Ladies then lost their last two friendlies of the Indoor Season with narrow defeats at home to Honiton (42-54) with only Kay Smith, Marion Harris, and Chris Barber (18-10) managing a win and away at Madeira (57-60) with Pam Clark, Marion Harris, and Lilian Lovatt the sole winners (28-12).

The season's fixture list finished with a thrilling win (54-53) at home to Taunton Bowls Club with a top rink of John Church, Pam Hunter, Chris Todd, and Brian Clark (20-12) - this being the club’s seventh consecutive 'mixed friendly' victory to end a very successful season.
