In the final of the Devon County Supplementary Cup, Westexe Park Rangers upset the form book by beating Axminster Town by the only goal of the game scored by Hollie Stone.
In an end-to-end match, the underdogs matched their opponents and both teams entertained a large vociferous crowd, who went wild when the winning goal went in. The Tigers battled hard for an equaliser but the Westexe defence held firm to take the trophy.
A great achievement on their first season in competitive senior football. Westexe will have a chance to add to that trophy when they meet Budleigh Salterton in the Eastern Division Final at Ottery St Mary on Tuesday, May 24 with a 7.45 pm kick-off.
While the result was obviously a disappointment for Axminster, they can still reflect on a fine run to the final and some great matches played over the course of the season.
