Saturday saw AVR runners Alex Todd and Matt Clist runn the East Devon Way, writes Dave Mutter.

This is a hilly 40-mile inland route from Exmouth to Lyme Regis.

Garry Perratt started with them, but was struggling by half-way and bailed out at Colyton after 30 miles.

Todd and Clist then stepped up the pace and the increased tempo enabled them to reach the end of the Cobb six hours and 38 minutes after leaving Exmouth.

That mean the pair had taken more than half an hour off Tom Bland’s record.
