Two zone wins help Honiton to win Shield

The Torbay Shield was hosted by the Teignmouth SAS and was fished by the full 10 local fishing teams from around Torbay and East Devon.
Each year the teams take it in turn to run the event on their local patch and the huge trophy that is up for grabs would look good to any of the fishing clubs that would like to win it.
This year the fishing venues were all picked around the River Teign and beaches around Teignmouth. The weather was fine and warm and most fishing zones fished well with plenty of fish being caught, weighed in at capture and released straight away to fight another day. Congratulations must go to the Teignmouth club for such a well organised event. Fish caught during the event included Mullet, Flounder, Garfish, Mackerel, Dogfish, Scad, Whiting and Wrasse.
At the presentation at the end of the day it emerged that Honiton Sea Angling Club had two zone wins and had come out winners scoring 42 points. Second place went to Paignton SAA on 36 points. Other positions were: Cormorants 34 points, T and B ASA 32 points, Teignmouth SAS 25 points, Dartmouth 18 points, Exmouth 17 points, Brixham 16 points, Budleigh and Sidmouth 11 points.
All the awards were made by Barrie Nockolds who is the President of the Angling Trust Wyvern Marine Division.
