On Saturday, Amie and Tim Sibley plus Rob Collier took on the Albion Running organised Westcountry Flat 50 mile ultra, which was actually 52 miles and had 1,800 feet of climb!
Starting in Taunton, the route follows the canal to Bridgewater and then the River Parrett to the coast before heading west along the coastline with a slight inland diversion around Hinckley Point before returning to the coast.
Another inland diversion through East /West Quantoxhead, returning to the coast at Watchet and finishing in Minehead.
This was the first attempt at 50 miles for all three runners, some 20 miles further than they’d run before. Rob had a couple of navigational issues and ended up running 53 miles but still managed to finish sixth in 8 hours 37 minutes.
Tim and Amie really enjoyed the variety of scenic views and were pleased to complete the event together in 13 hours and 56 minutes.
