Patrick Devine-Wright took first place in the 2021 East Devon Round ultra-marathon trail race, finishing the distance of about 100km with approximately 3000m of climb in 11 hours and 46 minutes.
The route included local highlights such as Danes Hill above Dalwood, the Undercliff between Lyme Regis and Seaton, and Blackbury camp.
Plaudits to race organiser Alisdair Moffett for mitigating the race's carbon emissions by having one tree planted for each competitor.
Sarah Whelan won the May edition of the AVR 4K handicap race, beating her PB by 1 min 5 sec taking 26m 35s. David Cooke was second, 20m 9s; Alan Morbey third, 19m 56s, Andrew Hartnell fourth, 19m21s and Paula Cooke fifth, 26m 5s.
Pam Goddard now leads the standings with 72 points, very closely followed by Eleanor Wood and Shirley Salter both on 71, Sarah Wheelan is fourth on 64 points and Richard Matthews fifth on 63 points.
