Uplyme and Lyme Regis powered their way to a fine home win over Ashburton in another game that was rain hit and an adjusted target set for a run chase.

The visitors batted first and closed on 245-5 after 44 overs.

Ben Whittington with 3-58 from six overs was the most successful home bowler. The other wicket takers were Rhys Davies (1-17 from six) and skipper Steve Batey (1-30 in seven).

Rain led to an adjusted target of 202 in the run chase which saw three wickets fall with 56 on the board. Ben Whittington joined Alex Taylor and the pair added 37 for the fourth wicket before Taylor fell for 37. Whittington and Adam Caddy then took centre stage, taking the total to within a single blow of victory when Caddy was bowled for 60. Skipper Batey had the honour of being one of the two not out batsmen when the win was confirmed with Ben Whittington unbeaten on 56.

A fifth victory in eight leaves Uplyme and Lyme Regis sitting fourth in the D Division table with the halfway mark reached this weekend after the trip to Halberton and Sampford Peverell.
