After a successful pre-season that saw the team unbeaten in six games against higher division opposition, Upottery made a wining start to their new league season with a 1-0 win at Cranbrook.
Last year the two sides were both in Division Six and Upottery won their two meetings and they bagged the points in this game thanks to a second half goal from Cody Tratt-Skinner.
The first half proved to be a close fought battle, with neither team managing to break the deadlock.
After the break the contest became more open Tratt-Skinner weaved his way through a number of challenges before drilling the ball home.
The Upottery Man of the Match award was shared between Olly Cramer for his tireless work in midfield, and Jamie Westwood, who was solid in defence.
Upottery are back in action on Wednesday night (August 29) with an East Devon derby at Dunkeswell Rovers (6.30pm) and they are away again on Saturday (September 1) when they go to Bampton (3pm).
