Upottery 4, Ottery St Mary 0 Upottery moved smoothly into second place in Fresha League Division Three with a fine all-round show against visiting Ottery St Mary.
Mark Tucker opened the scoring, heading home a delightful cross from new signing Jake Welch, recruited recently from neighbouring Hemyock.
Steve Morris closed in on ten for the season with another goal and the other scorer was Joey Jones.
Delighted villagers boss Dan Prettejohn said: “We deserved that as we bossed the game from start to finish. We have assembled a squad now that I think can have a real go at bagging promotion. Of coursed it’s nice to see us sitting second in the table, but there’s a long way to go and we need to keep our feet firmly on the ground. However, if we continue to play like this we’ll have many more good days than bad ones this season!”
On Saturday Upottery stage another East Devon derby with the visit of an Axminster Town Reserves side that sit in the bottom three. Upottery keeper Jack Trevisic will be looking to keep a third successive clean sheet.
