Venn tackles new 10k Ashill charity race

AVR member Sue Venn ran the first ever Ribbon Run 10k road race in aid of Breast Cancer at Ashill near Taunton, writes Dave Mutter.

It was a two loop affair starting at The Square and Compass Inn.

The first loop of 5k was flat with gradual climbs, the second loop started downhill and then the hills started to raise their ugly heads.

That’s when Sue wished that she had taken the first loop a little steadier!

Sue completed the race in a time of 61:30 and reports that it was a well marshalled event, but with only 46 runners in the 10k they probably didn’t raise a lot of money, which was a shame.
