Vere at the double as Seaton Town stay top

Seaton Town chalked up yet another Fresha League top flight win to maintain their three point lead thanks to a 3-1 success over Thorverton.

Cameron Vere hit a double and Richie Durrant also scored with the Mid Devon side netting a late consolation.

Town boss Josh Stunell was not getting carried away with his side’s eighth win in ten Fresha League outings.

He said: “In all honesty we were not at our best but we simply did what had to be done to bank the points. Perhaps I am seeking too much, but, we were not as fluent as we can be. It does frustrate me at times for I know we really do have a very good side this term and I’d like to think we’d knock over such opposition. That said, they (Thorverton) were as I thought, a much improved side and gave us plenty to think about. A plus was the clinical way we took our goals, particularly the Richie (Durrant) effort. His goal was well created and superbly finished.”

Its Cup action this Saturday for Stunell and his side with a visit to a Kingskerswell and Chelston side who sit third in the top flight of the South Devon league having won four and lost one of their five league outings to date. Last weekend they beat Staverton and Landscove 5-3 in a league game.

Stunell is set to ring the changes for the cup tie, something he explained saying: “With the league our priority it’s a great chance with it being a cup tie to freshen things up and have a look at then wider squad. Some of the players are not getting good quality action and a match like this one with a leading South Devon side looks an ideal opportunity for me to have a look at how some of the other lads can fare in such company.”
