Vincent and Cox closing in on another Axe Cliff seniors’ title

The penultimate round of the Axe Cliff seniors’ Winter League has left the title almost in the hands of the holders, writes Rob Grove.

Alan Vincent and Gilbert Cox maintained their grip on the championship with a steady 33 points despite the efforts of the rest of the field to wrest it from them.

Neil Moorcraft and Malcolm Glass kept up their assault with a commendable 35 points as did the pairing of Roger Wright and Rob Grove, but unless a partnership can come up with a remarkable score in the final round it does seem that Alan and Gilbert will be defending their title once again next year. The only two of the day came from Chris Walker.

The Axe Cliff men played the March Medal and Division One was won by Alex Gabb with Paul Curtin the runner-up.

The ladies played the Count Prize and this produced a win for Caroline Bond with Lesley Crawford second and Alison Cook third.
