A small field played in this week’s Honiton Mixed Competition, writes Andy Wagner.

It took the format of a treble six with holes one to six played as better ball, holes seven to 12 as greensome and holes 13 to 18 as foursomes.

The weather in the morning looked doubtful, but cleared up to encourage play - in spite of a hailstorm during the round.

The winners with 36 points were Di Wall and Paul Ritchie with second place going to Hilda Hoepelman and Bob Barnes with 35 points.

Paul Ritchie gave the vote of thanks to organisers Stephanie and Bob, bar staff, catering, but in particular, to his playing partner Di who had played her first competitive round of 18 holes since a bout of ill-health.
