The popular Christmas Bring and Win greensome stableford was one of the festive events sadly cancelled owing to inclement weather, writes Andy Wagner.
However, organisers Jennifer and Richard Pyle had an excellent contingency plan!
Over 36 members met in the clubhouse (with many dressed in Christmas Red and John Dickinson wearing a ‘fetching’ musical hat) to play a Christmas Tree Drive organised by Max Pipe.
We were then entertained by Vaughan Whiteley on guitar singing his own compositions relating to playing in the Mixed with the ‘Tuesday Mixed Blues’ and ‘Ode to Windy Ridge’. Members then selected their prizes from a varied and colourful prize table.
Jennifer then gave a vote of thanks to Max, Vaughan, the kitchen staff, bar staff, members who had organised the mixed meetings during the year and then presented Andrea Squire with a bouquet of roses as a thank you for writing the press reports each week .
