Wet end to season
There was a rather wet end to the croquet season for the Lym Valley Croquet Club at Uplyme.
Members finally managed to complete the club competitions after what was probably the wettest season on record. The Novices and High bisquers trophy was eventually won by Peter Briault with Philip Morgan-Smith as the runner up, but due to the wet weather, it was postponed until very late in the season and many club members were unable to take part.
The LVCC Intermediate team - Ken Wilcox, Huw Rees, Richard Cousins and Jack Hoar reached the semi-final of the regional federation competition, but then they were beaten by Cornwall at St. Austell.
This was only the second season that the LVCC had competed at this level, so it was a great result.
The B League team improved as the season progressed and ended up mid-way in the S-W region.

In August, the LVCC held the President’s Plate competition, which was won by Ken Wilcox and Philippa Fortescue who beat Huw Rees and Philip Morgan-Smith by one hoop.

Hopefully, the 2013 season will start as usual at the end of March and maybe 2013 will be a bit warmer and drier!
