There were many old friends among the 156 players representing 23 clubs from four counties who contested the annual inter-club Henry Young Salver held in stableford format, writes Liz Rogers.

Blessed with fine weather, everyone enjoyed a very competitive day organised by the 2014 seniors’ captain, Bill Eaton.

The Captains’ Charity, the Baton, was boosted - the ladies’ section ran a raffle which raised over £320 and the popular 11th tee refreshment hut raised over £95.

The overall winners were Keith Wyman, M Donavan and D Barker from Weymouth.

The winning home team were Eric Short, Robin Mitchel and Colin Hughes.

The next winning away team were T Berry, T Essary and P Willcox from Crediton.
