Whimple will be glad they won’t be facing Ipplepen in a hurry.
The D Division champions elect dished out a second heavy defeat of the season on Jono Burdens men.
When the pair met at Whimple earlier in the campaign Whimple were rolled over for 65 to lose by 156 runs. This time they managed double that with a total of 136 but, batting first, that was never going to trouble Ipplepen who hurried to a nine wicket win.
Chris Palfrey hit 50 and Will Cleal struck 25 in the Whimple batting effort, Dave Chamberlain took the one home wicket to fall.
This weekend Whimple entertain Yelverton.
Whimple II had a Saturday off but still managed to retain top spot in the D Division East. They are a point clear of new second placed side Honiton II who have played a game more. This Saturday Barry Wright’s side travel to promotion rivals North Devon III.
