Wight wins Lyme Regis Junior Championship

The Lyme Regis juniors played their Junior Championship competition, writes Richard Jackman.
Dorset County juniors Stuart Wight, 74 and David Lyon, 79 finished first and second from George Seed also 79 in the scratch competition.
The outstanding score of the day in the handicap competition was the net 60 by James Phillips which put him firmly in first place with Stuart Wight, net 69, took second whilst Lewis Gibbons, with a net 70, was third.
The seniors stableford on Monday saw some solid scores returned with David Binns 38 points taking Division 1 from Malcolm Hinxman, 37 and Paul Galloway 36. In division two count back decided that John Jones 36 beat John Hadfield, with Tony Johnstone third with 34
Sadly the men’s and ladies’ were fogged off, but the weather cleared for the junior stableford, and, despite being cut three shots the previous weekend, James Phillips was the star of the show winning with 36 points from George Seed, 35 and David Lyon 34.
