Windwhistle Motor Club has held their annual car trial at Bovey Down in East Devon.

Thirty Four crews from mainly around South Somerset and East Devon competed in the event with perfect weather for the occasion.

The challenge of the event is to ascend numerous steep rocky and muddy hills through trees and marker posts numbered twelve at the bottom to zero at the top. The object being to score zero penalties by the time they reach the top of each hill. Many diverse vehicles took part including Suzuki-X90s, VW Beetles and Buggies, Ford Escorts, BMWs and Kit Cars. The classes range from fairly standard road cars to highly modified specials. On this occasion the event winner was Ian Davis from Oxford in a VW Buggy with a total of only eighteen penalties. The best Novice was Norton Selwood from Wellington in a D.P.Wasp with a total of 37.
