The beautiful Wiscombe Park estate near Honiton will again be resounding to the sound of highly tuned race engines as a new motorsport season commences on the weekend of 23 and 24.

This will be the first race weekend of six high octane, high energy and definitely high drama meeting, with the motorsport season at Wiscombe Park continuing through to early September.

The 1,000 yard hillclimb course has been playing host to speed events since 1958, and this year it is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of hosting the prestigious British Hillclimb Championship, over the weekend of the July 30 and 31.

For each meeting, 140 competitors will be battling for the honour of setting the fastest time of the day over the challenging course comprising hairpins and “S” bends, as well as long straights. The cars compete in various classes – all vehicles are catered for - from standard road-going cars to the bespoke, single-seater racing cars – there will also be motorbikes and sidecars at some of the events.

Competitors for the events come from all over the South-West to take part in a variety of regional championships, including the venue’s own Wiscombe Park Tillicoultry Quarries Championship. In July, the UK’s fastest drivers will be in action, when there will also be rounds of various national championships – it is going to be a super-fast summer.

Spectators are able to see all the action from many excellent viewing positions over the whole hill. The paddock is open to spectators throughout the day, so you can get a close look at the cars and chat to the drivers – it is a very social sport.
