An AVR trio took a trip to Tipton St John to run the Otter Rail and River Run, a 10k multi terrain event, writes Dave Mutter.

It was a scorching hot day which took its toll on all runners.

The first AVR runner home was Eleanor Wood finishing as third lady overall in 47:18 and she was placed 17th out of 87 runners.

Alan Morbey, getting stronger with each race, broke the hour mark for 10K’s for the first time finishing 45th in 57: 20.

His son Stephen sprinted the last 100 metres like Usain Bolt and finished after his father, 65th in 62:41.

The complimentary bottle of Otter Ale was much appreciated.

Thank you to Sidmouth RC for a most enjoyable event.

Three AVR’s ran the Bridport 10k Jurassic Coast Path race on Sunday; a very hilly and very hot run.

Graham Newton was first AVR home and first male over 60 in 56:34.

Robin Britton was next in 1:03:24 followed in by Steve Reynolds in 1:06:18.
