Lyme Regis held its annual 36-hole club championship with prizes available for the best gross and best nett scores, writes Richard Jackman.

In the morning Todd Larcombe’s 72 was the best gross score and he was well placed in second with a nett 67.

Top spot in the nett competition went to Adam Neale with a nett 65.

Hovering in the wings in the gross competition were Roger Seed and Adrian Morgan, both with 74.

However, sixteen-year-old Dorset county junior, David Lyon had other ideas!

He eclipsed his five morning birdies with six in the afternoon to record a superlative gross 68, nett 62, both the lowest scores of the day!

This was enough to make David the youngest winner of both competitions. His gross 144 was one better than Todd Larcombe’s 145 with Ed Lawrence’s 147 beating Roger Seed on count back.

In the nett competition David’s 132 beat Rob Coombe’s 134 from George Yorke on count back with Todd Larcombe finishing fourth with 135. After receiving many congratulations on his win David paid tribute to the support and encouragement he has received from family and friends and in particular to club professional Duncan Driver who has coached him for the last five years.
