Following its debut performance of songs from its number one album In My Dreams, in Princesshay, Exeter, on the day of the album release, Lympstone Military Wives Choir were delighted to be invited back to perform for Her Majesty during the Royal Party’s visit to Exeter on May 2.

Band member Vanessa Wright told the Journal: “Rehearsals are in full swing and we’re all thrilled to have been given this amazing opportunity.”

We will be performing on stage in Princesshay at approximately 11.50am for the Royal party and will continue to perform a number of songs from the album for the crowd.”

The performance will be beamed back to a large screen which is to be located on the High Street to coincide with the Royal vehicle making it’s way up the High Street and being seen by the assembled crowd.

“It is such a huge honour to be invited to perform for our monarch, particularly in this her Diamond Jubilee year. Also, Her Majesty is, like the many of our choir, the wife of a Royal Marine as His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, is Captain General of the Royal Marines.

The choir is kindly being treated to lunch courtesy of Nando’s straight after the performance.

The Military Wives Choir album In My dreams remains in the official chart top 30 (above Rihanna and Katy Perry!) and the ladies continue to be inundated with invitations to perform.

“It is all very exciting! If only we could accept all the invitations but really, we are proud wives and mums first and foremost so, precious time with our husbands and children is also very important.”

Paula Mundy told the Journal: “ We would love more military wives to benefit from the joy, cameraderie and support we have all enjoyed being part of the Military Wives Choir and would like to invite any local military wives to come and join us.

“Even if only for one week to see how they enjoy it (we know once they come they will never want to leave!).”
