Busy time ahead in Honiton’s churches
For those who have seen the invitation to Come and Sing Stainer’s Crucifixion at St Paul’s Church on Saturday, April 16, there is still time to book your place at the workshop. Contact the Parish Office on (01404) 44035 or email email@example.com for more information. The performance is at 6.30pm.
On Friday, April 1, the Honeytones are performing in the Mackarness Hall, at 7.30pm. Admission free.
The Rhododendrons, at Coign Cottage, in Gittisham, will host a coffee morning on April 2, from 10am.
“All in the April Evening” is celebrated with a Honiton Band Concert, and a Sheldon Singers octet on Saturday, April 2.
Sunday, April 3 is Mothering Sunday. At Awliscombe the special Eucharist is at 9.30am. At St Paul’s the 9.30 congregation will join with Saints Alive, after the Eucharist, in the Mackarness Hall. Gittisham’s service is at 11am. There is a family service at Buckerell at 11.35am, and also at Combe Raleigh.

Buckerell’s APCM is at 7.25pm in the church on April 11. The same evening, Gittisham has a whist drive, at 7.30pm in the village hall.
The Passover meal at St Paul’s is on April 13. Combe Raleigh’s APCM is at 7.30pm in St Nicholas Church, that day.
On Palm Sunday, April 17, Awliscombe has a Procession from the car park into church at 9.15am.
For those attending St Paul’s, meet at 9.15am in the Mackarness Hall to follow the donkey into church.
During Holy Week there is a 7.30pm Eucharist on April 18, 19 and 20, for the Team in St Paul’s. On Maundy Thursday, St Paul’s, at 7.30pm, there is the Liturgy of the Lord’s Supper, followed by a Vigil until 10pm. The Watch at Awliscombe is from 8pm until midnight.
On Good Friday, Awliscombe has a service at 10am, and St Paul’s has a similar service at 10.30am. Gittisham also has a service at 10.30am, then at 2 pm, St Paul’s has the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion.
Children might like to join in the creating of Easter gardens in St Paul’s on Saturday, April 23, from 10am – 11am.
At 8pm, at St Paul’s, the Easter Ceremonies begin with the Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter.
On Easter Sunday, the service patterns are 9.30am Eucharist and Easter Egg hunt at Awliscombe, 9.30am Eucharist at St Paul’s and then Sunday Celebration Plus at 11.15a.m, an 11am Eucharist at Gittisham, and 11.15am Eucharists at Combe Raleigh and Buckerell. Awliscombe’s APCM is on April 27, at 7.30pm in the School, and St Paul’s APCM is at 7pm for 7.30pm, also on April 27.
