Historic Vehicle Gathering to be held at Powderham Castle

Around 1,400 exhibits will be on display at the Historic Vehicle Gathering at Powderham Castle.

If you love the sight and sound of old cars, motorcycles and steamers set in a scenic location by the River Exe, then the Historic Vehicle Gathering is an event you won’t want to miss.
This annual vehicle show, which is now in its 45th year, takes place at Powderham Castle, near Exeter, on Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8.
For many visitors, it is a chance to relive memories of yesteryear motoring, whether the interest is in two, four or ten wheels.
Vehicle entries have now closed as a record 1,400 examples have already been booked in.

Many of these exhibiting vehicles have an interesting story behind them, with some examples also being a rare sight on our roads due to low surviving numbers.
As in previous years, there will be live music on each day performed by various Westcountry bands, a light hearted dog show on the Saturday, vehicle club displays, entertainment for children and some exhibitors wearing period dress.

The annual Historic Vehicle Gathering is organised by the Crash Box and Classic Car Club, who are supported by various local voluntary organisations during the weekend.
As well as helping to bring together such an eclectic display of vehicles, the event also raises funds for various local charities.

This year the main chosen charities are Dream-a-Way, which provides grants towards holidays and for children and adults with disabilities, Dartmoor Rescue and Search Team, which helps people in difficulties on the moor and The Baton, which offers support the brave men and women of our armed forces, and the funds of which are used to assist individuals striving to improve their personal situation.
Richard Nunn, Chairman of the Crash Box Club said: “Whether you have been to the rally before or it will be your first visit, we are confident you will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.
“As well as the large array of vehicles, we will also have trade stands, auto jumble and craft stalls, refreshments and delicious food outlets. There really is something for everyone!”
