An agricultural tale which revolves around the foot and mouth crisis will be staged in Honiton.
Honiton theatre makers are bringing author Michael Morpurgo’s ’Out of the Ashes’ to The Beehive.
Morpurgo’s novel has been faithfully adapted for the stage by local director, Alex Jackson.
After a sell-out success at Exeter’s new Boatshed venue this summer, Honiton’s Amelia Hibbert will be appearing at The Beehive as young Becky Morely in this tale of Becky’s life on her Devon farm.
Things drastically change for the family during the outbreak of foot and mouth disease.
Actor Chelsea Marie deftly performs various different roles in this poignant adaptation.
The performance takes you through the joys of living in the South West’s rural countryside and the momentous effect foot and mouth disease had on British farming.
One reviewer said of the play that it was ‘charming and inventive, the piece uses simple staging and storytelling to shed light on a monumental crisis in recent history’.
