Following Romeo and Juliet, Exeter Northcott presents more mesmerising outdoor theatre in Rougemont Gardens with Through The Wardrobe, a new play by Exeter playwright Natalie McGrath.
A group of children become lost backstage in this fantastic adventure, inspired by the contents of Exeter Northcott's wardrobe store at Emmanuel Hall. Joining the Wardrobe Mistress in a search for the golden thread she needs to finish her costumes, they enter an imaginary world populated by strange creatures, including pirates, dancing pumpkins and giant weaving looms.
Told through song, movement and an other worldly soundscape performed live by musicians, Through The Wardrobe uses the same spectacular stage and set as Romeo and Juliet.
The production features performe)rs from the Northcott Young Company and Northcott Community Company, including participants from Exeter, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Honiton and other Devon towns. It will be devised at the Summer Residency led by Northcott Creative Learning Manager Polly Agg-Manning from July 28 to August 9.
