A Body of Work on display in Lyme Regis

Two art exhibitions to open in Lyme Regis in March
The Town Mill Galleries in Lyme Regis will be hosting two first-time exhibitions that each showcase a fascinating body of work.
From 2-14 March, The Malthouse will be home to The Nude in the Abstract, a collection of paintings by students from The School of Art and Wellbeing in Honiton.
These represent the results of exercises where, on large, richly textured surfaces created from a variety of different materials, the students were encouraged to allow a human figure to emerge gradually through random mark making.
As Mary Ann Wilmot explains: “This exhibition is the culmination of two terms of work where the students began to truly understand the language of form and the tension between the line of an object and the space it inhabits. As the tutor, I am thrilled with the results.”
Over at the Courtyard Gallery, in a solo exhibition called Landscapes and Seascapes, designer, illustrator and artist Russell Coulson will be displaying a selection of his recent paintings that capture local as well as imaginary scenes in impressionistic, expressionistic or semi-abstracted styles.
His body of work is fresh, naïve and spontaneous, offering us new perspectives on the coast around us.
Both exhibitions are treats for the eyes and mind and are open from 10.30am-4.30pm daily.
