The Rudes Theatre 4 Children is bringing their madcap version of The Musicians of Bremen to the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis, on Saturday, March 6.

It is based on the hilarious Grimm Brothers' fairytale about triumph over adversity, ambition, friendship, loyalty, bravery and what it's like to get old.

The Rudes Theatre 4 Children has established a name with its ambition to bring commedia dell'arte theatre to contemporary younger audiences. The performance features live jazz music, performed by the characters on stage.

The story is that of Bruno, an old donkey who can no longer pull Farmer Weber's cart.

Rather than face a grim end, Bruno runs away with his friends Alberta, a fox hound, a pretty cat called Cornelia and Fritz, a magnificent noisy red rooster. The animals form a jazz band, The Musicians of Bremen, and have a series of exciting adventures, particularly when they come across a posse of terrifying robbers - and an abandoned baby.

This charming story is suitable for children aged three to nine.

The Musicians of Bremen will be on stage at the Marine Theatre on Saturday, March 6, at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £7 (£5 for under 16s), and are available from Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre on (01297) 442138, on the door, or online at www.marinetheatre.org.uk
