Axe Vale Orchestra has established a strong following for its afternoon concerts of classical music, followed by tea and cakes.

Its next concert will be given at 3pm, on Sunday, November 8, in the Feoffees' Town Hall, in Colyton.

Led by Brenda Soothill and conducted by Adrian Carpenter, the programme includes Fauré's charming suite Masques et Bergamasques, Haydn's Symphony No 104 (the London) and Richard Strauss's 1st Horn Concerto.

Soloist in the concerto is Jonathan Stoneman, an accomplished player, who has recently moved into the area. Jonathan's job involves extensive travel to other parts of the world, when he also takes the opportunity to listen to and take a lesson from some of the world's finest players.

Tickets cost £8 - including tea and cakes - (students £5 at the door) and are obtainable from Brainwave, in Colyton, by telephone from (01297) 553304 and at the door.
