Audiences were enthralled as they watched The Honiton Players perform Agatha Christie's The Unexpected Guest at the weekend.

The group presented three performances of the play at the Mackarness Hall, on August 7 and 8.

Director Jerry Holt reported a positive audience turnout of approximately 70 people on the Friday and Saturday evenings, with slightly fewer in attendance on the Saturday matinee.

Many positive comments were received by an enthralled audience trying to unravel the 'whodunnit' plot.

Mr Holt said: "There was specific praise for both lead characters, played by Adam Dawson (Michael Starkwedder) and Tracey Bonetta (Laura Warwick), as they performed their large and taxing parts with extreme professionalism.

Comments were also received for an outstanding performance by Kyle Bonetta-Martin in his difficult role as Jan Warwick."

He said all others, Seana Cummings, Gillian Rawson, Dave Pickerall, Sandra Bryant, Hal Dimond and Zoe Clements made a good, solid contribution to the show.

A presentation was made to Mr Holt by the cast after the final performance.
