There's a lot going on at The Beehive in Honiton, during May.

After a tremendous April, we leap into May with another special local fundraising evening, this time for East Devon Hospiscare, which will take place on Thursday, May 17, at 8pm.

The Comedy Avengers are coming!! So grab your mates and come down for a good giggle as this gang of stand-up comedians deliver their best gags for a great cause.

The excellent Tom Glover will be MC and deadpan delivery man, Morgan Rees along with quirky Louis Burgess and Richard Lindesay, Kiwi one-liner stand-up comedian join the line up so far, but there’ll be more folks!

We are absolutely thrilled to have the fabulous Cara Dillon is coming to The Beehive accompanied by her husband and musical partner Sam Lakeman. This legendary Irish singer/songwriter occupies an enviable position at the very top of her genre. Cara has been captivating audiences and achieving exceptional acclaim for over 20 years. This concert is on Friday, May 18, but there aren’t many tickets left!

On Friday, May 25, we have ‘Strawberries in January’ by Rona Munro performed by Cygnet Theatre Co, a cinematic rom-com, live on stage!

This fizzy concoction takes the classic ingredients of romantic comedy – love, humour, coincidence and fantasy- and serves them up with a surprisingly touching twist… “My companion was reminded of the comedy series ‘Friends’ and the more I think about that, the more I agree. We were very impressed with the actors’ professionalism, teamwork and fast-paced delivery.

“The set is attractive and easily adaptable and the whole production is stylish, with a very well-chosen sound track.” Avril Silk Remotegoat 4* review.

Our cinema this month includes ‘I Tonya’(15)on Saturday, May 19, a film about talented figure skater Tonya Harding who became the first American woman to complete a triple axel during competition and the scandal that arose from when her ex-husband conspires to injure Nancy Kerrigan, a fellow Olympic hopeful.

‘(Margot)Robbie and (Oscar Winner, Alison) Janney are flawless in a compelling and corrective account of a misunderstood figure; one of the more darkly funny biopics you’ll ever see.’ Helen O’Hara. 4* review Empire.

Elvis is starring in our Nostalgic film: Blue Hawaii(U) at 2pm on Friday, May 25, and then on Saturday, May 26, at 7.30pm, we have Black Panther (12A), a great Marvel superhero adventure that smoothly blends rich narrative substance with sheer popcorn entertainment.

We look forward to welcoming you at The Beehive, do pop in for our latest flyer and to see the new exhibition: ‘Resolution’ a collection of contemporary art from talented 3rd year BA Fine Art students at the University Centre, Somerset.
