Honiton Running Club will again be organising a running event on the morning of Charter Day, this year symbolising the idea of people 'going to the market' through the ages from different places.
The 12 towns and villages surrounding Honiton will be the starting points for the separate runs, if the numbers of participants are sufficient for all to be incorporated.
A Sunday stroll around town
The Charter Walk will follow a route which approximately encircles the town and everyone is welcome to take part.
The walk will start at the market car park, in Silver Street, Honiton, and the group (or groups) will aim to leave at 2pm.
The estimated time for the return, if the whole route of 7.07 miles is completed, is about 5.30pm but, for those preferring to miss out Roundball Hill and the section past Combe Wood, both the distance and time will be considerably less.
There will be a short break in Weston, where walkers can rest and have their own refreshments or take advantage of the Otter Inn.
Stout footwear will be essential for the off-road parts and appropriate clothing required if the weather is inclement.
Free entertainment all day
HONITON has been a market town for 752 years and its inhabitants are proud of it. They are celebrating the history of their market with a weekend of free entertainment and events - most taking place on Saturday (July 25). The full programme is printed on this page. Everyone is welcome.
There will be a competition for the best
period dressed stallholder and shopkeeper.
