A team from Honiton’s Tesco is joining the best Hawaiian beach party walk in the South West – the Twilight Walk 2015.

On Saturday, July 11, Tesco staff will be wearing garlands, grass skirts and joining hundreds of other women walking along Exmouth’s seafront raising cash for Hospiscare.

Staff are busy making plans to get a minibus and enjoy a picnic.

“We are really looking forward to it,” said Kim Hutchinson, Tesco community champion. “This will be a lovely evening, picnicking and walking along Exmouth’s seafront. We wanted to make an event out of it.”

Staff and customers at Tesco are very supportive of Hospiscare, having raised an amazing £7,098 since last September, through a variety of events including a car boot sale, head shave and marathon running. Sales of second hand books raises about £100 a month. Kim said: “You get a real sense of achievement in supporting a local charity like Hospiscare and seeing the new Kings House Day Hospice being built and used.”

The Twilight Walk is a five- or 10-mile walk for women starting from Exmouth’s seafront – already 300 women have signed up including lots of teams.

Its Hawaiian theme is about getting the girls together for an evening of fun, laughter and memories whilst raising money for the new Kings House Day Hospice in King Street, Honiton.

“Get your friends, mums, daughters, colleagues, gym buddies and social groups together to make up a team,” said Katie Chantler, Hospiscare head of fundraising. “This is a great way to have lots of fun, enjoy the lovely Exmouth seafront and raise cash for a great local charity.”

Every year, Hospiscare provides professional support and care for 2,000 patients and their families living with a life-limiting illness, across Exeter, East and Mid Devon.

The Twilight Walk is about getting the girls together for an evening of fun, laughter and memories whilst raising money for Hospiscare to meet its £5m annual costs - the NHS contributes £1.2m.

There is currently a special team offer, sign-up a team of four for £45 and save £15 – offer ends May 22.

Individual entry costs £15, which includes T-shirt and refreshments to help you hula.

Open to all ladies aged 12 or over. For details go to: www.twilightwalk.org.uk or call 01392 688020.
