OPENING today (Saturday, September 5) at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Honiton, is an exhibition by two contemporary female artists, one from London, one from Cornwall.

Internationally acclaimed textile artist Dawn Dupree will, for the first time, join one of the South West's most exciting painters, Zoë Hyde, in an exhibition of works highlighting the pair's similarities in their use of narrative, technique and colour. The exhibition will also reveal the differences in the influence of their opposing surroundings, the Atlantic coast and the urban landscape of London.

Dawn and Zoë's work will be shown alongside the permanent display of work by the late Thelma Hulbert, former resident of Elmfield House (now the Thelma Hulbert Gallery.) Similar paintings by Miss Hulbert are featured in the Tate Gallery collection. There is also a display of exquisite porcelain bowls by Devon maker Karen Bourne, which take inspiration from the sea, water, and associated forms and colours. All of Karen's work is for sale.

An autumn date for your diary is Saturday 10 October when Zoë Hyde will be at the gallery for THE BIG DRAW, a free drawing activity for all, with materials provided.
