The mayor of Honiton has opened a travelling Magna Carta exhibition at The Beehive.

Caroline Kolek met with historian Tony Simpson to officially open the display.

She said: “I am very pleased to welcome this exhibition, since we can trace some of our ancient rights and traditions to the time of the Magna Carta. History has witnessed many struggles to get where we are today.

“The story of the Magna Carta is still very relevant, as are the issues of rights and justice.”

Mr Simpson said he was ‘grateful’ to the mayor and Honiton Town Council for providing such a ‘superb’ exhibition area.

The display will be at The Beehive until Sunday, September 6.
