BASTILLE Day will be celebrated in Honiton this year with a day of fun at The Railway, in Queen Street.

An exciting fun day for all is planned on Sunday, July 13, between 11am and 6pm. Jean Baptiste, the chef and co-owner of the pub is French and thought it a good idea to bring something of his homeland to Honiton.

Sue Jeffries, of The Railway, said: "We therefore thought we would make it a fun day by asking people to make up teams of six to enter into our Boules competition and application forms are available at The Railway. No experience is required, anyone can have a go.

"There is a prize of £100 for the winning team to donate to a Charity of their choice, with prizes for the runners up and with the help and support from our customers we would like to make this an annual event."

She said there will be a barbecue and a large paella will be cooking with the bar open all day.
