The Hunch Back of Notre Dame will be in Membury Village Hall this week, from Thursday evening.

Membury Merrymakers are poised to take to the stage for this year’s pantomime in the village.

The group has built up a reputation for creating pantomimes out of unusual sources, with last year’s successful production based on the Greek legend of Pandoras’ Box.

One reviewer of that production said: “It’s great to see a community theatre group which is so well supported and we can look forward to seeing which traditional tale is given the Membury makeover next year.”

The group will be staging The Hunch-Back of Notre Dame at Membury Village Hall, from Thursday, January 25 to Saturday, January 27, including a matinee on the Saturday.

The tale is set in the days leading up to the Queen’s coronation, and the villainous administrator Claude Frollo’s plans to increase his ill-gotten gains from the cathedral coffers.

Tickets are available from Membury Post Office on 01404 881225.
