Following last year's highly successful event, Axminster Arts is busy organising Network Axminster.

The event is due to take place at The Guildhall, on Saturday, October 10, this year, with extended opening times of 10am to 12.30pm.

It would like to invite all groups and organisations in the town to take part, as well as the public to come along and find out what really goes on in the town.

Entry is free, both to organisations taking part and the public on the day and refreshments will be served throughout the morning, courtesy of the Arts Café, which is run by Axminster Arts.

The purpose of Network Axminster is to publicise the many and varied activities, which happen in Axminster and the surrounding area. On the day, each organisation taking part will have a table or equivalent space, to enable them to show off exactly what they do and how you can join, if interested.

Last year, more than 40 groups took part and it looks like an equivalent number will be there this year, including many groups who were not present last year.

After last year's event, Axminster Arts produced a database of meeting times and contact details of more than 50 organisations, which has been available at the Arts Café, library and TIC since.

This will be updated after this year's event and details added of additional organisations that did not respond to their request for details last year. This will also include groups who, unfortunately, are unable to attend this year's Network but, nevertheless, want to publicise their details.

This year there will also be a range of demonstrations taking place on the stage throughout the morning and possibly a chance to have a try at something new. Spaces are still available for groups and booking forms can be collected from the Arts Café or by contacting Tim Leat on (01297) 35187 or e-mailing Norrlet@aol.com Most of all, the groups taking part would like to see as many residents of Axminster and the surrounding area as possible on the day. Arrangements have been made with the League of Friends of Axminster Hospital to make sure that you can attend both Network and the hospital opening, which will both be taking place on October 10, so there is no need to miss either event.
