Thursday lunchtimes during August will see another interesting series of concerts in Axminster's Minster Church. Lasting just half an hour, from 12.30pm until 1pm they provide shoppers, visitors, and anyone else interested, with a quiet moment's break on market day.
The first concert of the month, on August 7, brings well known clarinetist Chris Gradwell with the Newenham Quartet.
This promises to be a highlight of the month's schedule and could it include movements from Mozart's Clarinet Quintet? We'll have to wait and see.
Sounds of India can be heard on August 14, when sitar player Ricky Romain is joined by violinist Sudhi Salooji in a programme of classical Indian music.
On August 21 the Minster's organ will resound in what is described as an exciting programme in a recital given by Peter Lea-Cox, and on August 28, to round off the month, there will be Home Grown Harmonies when mezzo-soprano Graces Dives, accompanied by Susan Gales, sing songs by English composers.
All these concerts are free but a donation towards the upkeep of the Minster is requested.
A light lunch is available from 1.05 pm. for which, again, a donation is requested.
