Seaton Choral Society will hold its first rehearsal of the autumn season on Wednesday, September 6, at Seaton Methodist Church, in Valley View.

Starting at 7.20pm, this is free to anyone who would like to go along, have a sing, and decide whether to join, with no obligation to do so should they feel it is not for them.

A spokesman said: “We shall start work on a wide ranging programme of the music to be performed at our Christmas concert in December, including pieces by Bach, Elgar, Mozart and others, and ending with a selection of carols.

“Leading us will be Ian Crew, our dynamic new musical director who, back in May, led the society through an exhilarating performance of Carmina Burana.

“Music will be provided and it is hoped that singers of all voices will come along and test the water !

“The ability to read music is a great bonus but not essential – present membership covers a wide range of experience and many have learnt to sight-read from scratch through the very enjoyable medium of choral rehearsal.

The atmosphere is friendly and positive, and newcomers will be warmly welcomed.
