World premiere of Testudo Musical’s new production opened on Wednesday.

Midsummer Nightmare is being staged at The Gateway until Saturday, September 17.

Directed, written and composed by musical director Michael Redston, Midsummer Nightmare is a magical tale of love, treachery and intrigue where real life and the plot of a Shakespeare play somehow become intertwined.

The music is a wonderful mix of beautiful ballads, rock songs and a touch of folk, which help to tell the story.

Set in a college, the teenage cast members play a huge part and have great songs.

Imagine Phantom of the Opera meets High School Musical or Glee and you have the flavour of the show.

Michael Redston is not without previous successes having given the Testudo group the hit show Rude Rector a few years ago.

The cast, backstage teams, lighting engineer and costumiers have been working hard to bring this show up to their usual professional standard.

Tickets are on sale at The Gateway, Seaton Town Hall – just call 01297 625699.
